Cutting Terrorist Trees
While looking into counterterrorism tools, I have found many references to 'tree' diagrams that eerily resemble a scene in the 1966 award-winning film "La Bataille d'Alger". A version of this can be found in an academic paper by a researcher at M.I.T. interested in Order Theory... In fact, a number of books address the use of mathematical methods in counterterrorism. I hope to read some of these monographs soon.
Pillar on Data Mining
While looking for definitions of counterterrorism, I found this 10-year-old article on the functional use of data mining. In view of the almost daily revelations by the Guardian, Paul Pillar's comments can be seen as quite topical.
